About the Recording

Random Acts of Fiddling samples many flavors of the fun of fiddle music: Old-Timey, Celtic, Bluegrass, Swing, Ukrainian in new and creative arrangements. Not only do the girls play well individually, together their music creates a special sonic space. While trained classically, this is the music they have chosen and learned on their own, in the style of many traditional fiddlers from various cultures. Recorded by Russ Hopkins of KIVA Records and produced by Steve Eulberg, this recording is destined to become a favorite of lovers of traditional music of all stripes.

About the Random Acts Artists

Violinists & sisters, Carole & Teresa Lundgren, ages 19 & 15, began playing at ages 5 & 4 respectively and have have been performing as a duo for over 4 years. Classically trained, they love the upbeat music of the fiddling genre.

Both participate in the Rocky Mountain Youth Orchestra (formerly the "Larimer Youth Festival Orchestra") in Ft. Collins, for which Carole has been Concert Master. Teresa won the elementary division of Kiwanis Stars of Tomorrow at age 7. The two are well-recognized in many venues in northern Colorado.

Carole graduated from the International Baccalaureate Program at Poudre High School in Fort Collins and is now a sophomore at Denver University in Colorado. Carole has four times been selected to participate in the Weekend for Strings at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. She was chosen twice for the All-State Orchestra at the University of Colorado in Boulder, and plays with the Cheyenne Symphony. She also plays clarinet.

Teresa is an Junior at Poudre High School in Fort Collins. Teresa also plays Oboe and the Limberjack.

As a Duo, they've become well-recognized playing frequently at Barnes & Noble, Old Town Square, Hospice of Larimer County, Pioneer's Picnic, Fort Collins Nursery, Poudre Valley Hospital, nursing homes, churches, family occasions and most recently at Lucky Joe's for St. Patrick's Day. They've also played on Boulder's Pearl Street Mall, and the Jewish Community Center in Denver. They've both competed in Kiwanis Stars of Tomorrow, the Mid-Winter Bluegrass Festival and the Scottish/Irish Highlands Festival in Estes Park.

Eddy Miller is a sophomore at University of Northern Colorado where he plays violin in the orchestra. Also a player of mandolin, bass and bagpipes, he is a member of the Fort Collins Pipe Band.

Steve Eulberg is an award-winning, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. For this recording he is producing, arranging and adding: Hammered Dulcimer, Mountain Dulcimer, Bodhran, Guitars, Bass, Mandolin & Recorder.
He won 3rd Place (2001) and 2nd place (1998) in the National Mountain Dulcimer Championships and was a Finalist in the National Hammered Dulcimer Championships in 1999 at Winfield, KS. He has numerous recording credits and has won commissions for various compositions. He is active teaching and playing in northern Colorado.
